Words directly from a past client:

I asked one of my past clients to write about her experience working with me - this is what she said (unedited):

Annie asked me to share my experience with a six week program I did with her a couple of years ago, and-to be honest, I didn’t really want to, but it’s hard to say no to her:)

For years (more like decades), I felt stuck as it related to dieting and losing weight. I thought I was "doing everything right"—skipping meals, trying every restrictive diet under the sun, using willpower I didn't even know I had—but the scale... it just wouldn't budge. I was sluggish, frustrated, and just wanted to give up and accept that I’d never be skinny.

That all changed when I signed up for her program that promised something different. It wasn't about stupid points or colorful containers. It was about eating more, not less. Not skipping meals, not feeling bad for finishing my kids’ mac’ n cheese. Enjoying a beer or two with my husband. Everything she said seemed to be the opposite of everything I thought was right.

She started out with a nutrition assessment with me, and then she taught me about nutrition labels and we met weekly to discuss what I had been eating. She worked around my schedule and my life. She didn’t give me a meal plan - she had me track what I was eating and suggested changes, things to add and different brands to swap that were healthier. It didn’t even feel like I was on a diet (she is going to hate that I wrote this), and I didn’t believe her the first few weeks when she kept telling me to eat MORE.

We also had a couple calls where we went through my kitchen cupboards and fridge - I showed her items my family and I loved, and she helped show me what to look for and gave me different brands of our “go-tos”. I had no idea how crappy Clif protein bars are for you!

What helped me the most was that she was always texting me encouraging things, giving me recommendations from restaurant menus (I travel a lot for work), and she would force me to do a Wal-Mart grocery order during our calls while we were putting meals together. Which, was good. For our family, if we don’t have something planned, we generally go get a couple of pizzas from Caseys:)

I also learned that starving myself was backfiring, big time. She taught me a lot about protein and how to center each meal around it - it makes a huge difference! I also realized I don’t hate cottage cheese! Her app also has a ton of recipes and templates and grocery lists which are helpful.

What surprised me most was that my cravings nearly stopped. I was rarely hungry, and my pathetic workouts actually started to feel easier because I stopped working out “fasted”.

She also taught me how to better handle all my work trips so I didn’t feel like I failed each time I would get home. I learned how to eat out without derailing my progress, how to alter my goals for travel , and how to maintain my results long after the six weeks were over. She told me it would be a lifestyle change, and I see that now. She makes small changes so they didn’t feel too difficult.

After the first couple of weeks, the scale started to move, which was thrilling (she tried REALLY hard to get me not to care about the number on the scale!), but the real results were so much bigger. I had energy I hadn't felt in years. I felt stronger, more confident, and less stressed around food. I finally understood how my body and food worked together, and her (I told her this) annoying educational YouTube videos and podcasts she would send me actually helped me learn to understand why certain changes helped me.

Doing that initial program gave me the jumpstart I desperately needed. It pieced together a lot of the overwhelming information I always see on IG, and also made me realize that Ozempic wasn’t the answer, and most of the stuff out there to lose weight doesn’t work long term anyways.

But as life happens, and my metabolism continues to change I know there's more to learn and more results to achieve. I have seen the scale fluctuate a bit over the past couple of years, however I’ve still kept off 15 of the pounds I lost when working with her which is excellent. I think I’m going to do her next program to reshift my focus as we head into spring/summer - a refresher is always good, and man, does she hold me accountable!
